The use of AI in lending and credit risk assessment has drawn growing attention from regulators, civil-rights advocates, and lawmakers. Algorithms that rely on historical financial data can unintentionally replicate the same structural inequalities the industry has fought to eliminate for decades.

This is why bias mitigation in AI-driven banking is no longer optional. It’s a legal and ethical obligation for every financial institution operating in the United States.

  5. Consumer Transparency: Clearly communicate how AI is used in decisions and how customers can contest outcomes.

Banks that adopt this structured approach reduce regulatory exposure while strengthening consumer confidence.
